A NEW family concert is set to be performed in Barnsley at the end of the month.

Hundreds of people have watched Concerteenies’ The Big Dreaming, which combines innovative storytelling with high-quality live music, in sold-out performances in Sheffield, Doncaster, and Rotherham.

The concert is the latest in the music charity’s Musical Stories series of concerts, bringing popular children’s books to life, funded by Arts Council England.

Now The Big Dreaming is heading to Barnsley Civic for two special performances on Sunday, January 25.

Polly Ives, CEO of Concerteenies, said: “Our Musical Stories are a magical way for children to discover new books or experience their favourite titles through music.

“This work is more important than ever in an increasingly digital age, where just one in three young people has said they enjoy reading in their free time.

“As well as bringing The Big Dreaming to Barnsley in January, we’re also proud to be backing the National Year of Reading 2026 campaign.

“We hope lots of Barnsley families come together to enjoy the concert this January.”
