CALLUM Simpson has activated the rematch clause in his contract to fight Troy Williamson a second time.
The Barnsley boxer was beaten for the first time in his professional career when he lost his super-middleweight British, Commonwealth and European titles to Williamson in December.
But they are now due to fight again.
Simpson’s promoter Ben Shalom said: “That fight will happen in May, 100 per cent.
“It’s a huge rematch, Callum’s career is on the line and he knows that. He has made a few changes, he will announce them soon, but it’s a huge night for both of them.”
Shalom said he wanted the fight to be in Yorkshire but is unclear if it could be at Oakwell – where Simpson has fought the last two summers – in May as Barnsley theoretically could be in the play-offs that month.
