A BUSINESS-minded couple have ventured into selling special dairy goods.
Darfield husband and wife, Jamie and Sarah Stokes, have celebrated the early days of their flavoured butter business.
It all started with a family heirloom recipe for brandy butter, which has since expanded into a range of sweet and savoury butters.
The Yorkshire Kitchen started out small, selling at food festivals and Christmas markets - with patrons quickly acquiring a taste for the delicious goods.
Jamie said: “We simply couldn’t make the product quick enough, we were selling out at every market we went to.
“The amazing response from customers blew us away.”
Due to the unexpected business boom, Jamie took on The Yorkshire Kitchen as a full-time venture, with Sarah following him the year after.
Their range of savoury butters proved to be a best-seller, catching the eye of James Martin - who cooked with them on his James Martin’s Saturday Morning show.
Last year The Yorkshire Kitchen signed up to a national distributor - who shipped their sweet butters across the UK and the duo also made appearances on QVC and ITV.
The Yorkshire Kitchen’s team even won a Best New Business award in 2024 - commending their efforts to collaborate with other businesses in the region.
The couple are proud of being a Yorkshire-based business, especially with Jamie’s heritage as a born and bred Yorkshire lad.
Sarah said: “Our Yorkshire heritage is a very important part of our business and we work closely with suppliers within the region.
“We ensure the milk for the butter all comes from Yorkshire dairies and we collaborated with Filey Bay whisky for our whisky butter.
“We like supporting local producers and knowing our products haven’t travelled far from farm to fork.”
