BOTH Barnsley Hockey Club teams continued their fine form and now face crucial games against promotion rivals on Saturday.
Barnsley’s men made it seven straight wins with a 6-3 success at Sheffield 5th XI. Connor Massey scored twice with the other scorers being Tyler Williams, James Shaw, Dave Wright and Ross Dodge. They are second in YNE Peak and Wold Division Two, behind Alford and District on goal difference.
They are due to visit the leaders at Skegness Grammar School on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Barnsley women won 6-0 at Grasshoppers in YNE Peak Division One.
Megan Crehan and Ruth Aldred scored twice with Anne-Marie Watkinson and Rainbow Burden-Sharp also on target.
They are unbeaten in six with five wins.
They are fourth in the table, two points off top, ahead of a home game with second-placed Leopold on Saturday.
