A LOCAL MP says he’s pleased that face-to-face banking services will continue in Wath after a deal was struck.
There is currently a banking hub at Montgomery Hall which offers a face-to-face service.
However, it was only deemed a temporary solution and from March the hub will be moved to Tesco.
MP John Healey said: “This is a big step forward in protecting and providing access to banking for local residents.
“I campaigned to secure a banking hub for Wath back in 2023 and have spent several months working with Cash Access UK and your local Wath councillors, Dave Jackson and Sheila Cowen, to find a long-term solution to keeping this service.
“I’m really pleased that our joint efforts have paid off, delivering an innovative solution that keeps the hub easily accessible and close to the town centre.
“Some of you will already have seen works beginning at Tesco, with the construction of a first of its kind, custom-built banking hub now underway.
“The new hub will open to the public in March and will offer the same timetable of services as the current hub at Montgomery Hall.”
