A LOCAL councillor has slammed mindless vandals who smashed a bus in Darfield - just months after Stagecoach suspended services due to similar issues.

It’s reported that on Sunday, shortly before 10pm, vandals attacked the 27 service on Morrison Road.

A window was smashed on the bus but thankfully nobody was injured.

Back in September, the bus company suspended services after dark for a short period of time due to similar incidents.

There are currently no plans to suspend the service but Coun Pauline Markham, who represents the area, says crimes like this put others in danger.

She told the Chronicle: “The vandalism of the 27 bus on Sunday is completely unacceptable.

“This mindless behaviour puts passengers, staff and our whole community at risk.

“We work hard to improve local transport and incidents like this only hold us back.
