RESIDENTS in an area of Dodworth have been left in the dark for months due to a street light issue - and a local councillor has called for it to be fixed before the ‘worst happens’.
A number of street lights on Dodworth Green Road have been left broken for a prolonged period of time.
Coun Chris Wray, who represents the area, told the Chronicle that he has been in contact with the council a number of times but the issue is yet to be resolved.
He said: “Despite multiple emails and one failed fix, some street lights on Dodworth Green Road have been left in darkness for months.
“It is already a hotspot for speeding, with some residents having had multiple parked cars written off already.
“People who go to the church, and who live nearby, are concerned about the risk this lack of visibility poses.
“A fix is needed before the worst happens.”
A council spokesperson said: “An issue with the street lights on Dodworth Green Road was reported to us in November 2025.
“On inspecting the lights, our team identified an issue with the electrical supply. We reported this to Northern Power Grid, who repaired the fault in January.
“Despite this, we have identified that the lights remain out of service, with no power supply to the column.
“This has been reported to Northern Power Grid for further investigation and to repair the issue."
