FORMER top flight goalkeeper and Barnsley FC coach Mark Crossley has been appointed ‘director of football’ at Wombwell Main FC.

Crossley, from Hoyland, played in the FA Cup final for Nottingham Forest in 1991 during a career which spanned more than two decades and saw him play eight times for Wales.

He was also the Reds’ goalkeeping coach under Danny Wilson in the 2010s.

Crossley also works now as an after-dinner speaker.

Wombwell Main are currently in the County Senior League Premier Division.

Crossley said: “I went to school and was brought up with a lot of the club’s supporters so I’m happy to help out in any way I can.”
