Bob Seaborn, 50, will brave temperatures of -30C  during the two-week expedition.

The off-road enthusiast will drive a convoy of specially adapted 4x4s through snow and ice to Nordkapp, Norway. At 71 degrees north it is the most northern point in Europe.

"It's challenging enough for experienced people but for people that aren't it can be deadly," said Bob, of Woolley Grange, Darton.

"We'll be driving for eight to 12 hours a day to meet the mileage but it's an unknown quantity because we don't what the roads are going to be like."
