YOUNG Georgie-Ava Bann is set to represent Barnsley on the national stage later this year in the Little Miss Great Britain pageant - and she’s hoping to put the town on the map.
The 11-year-old from Penistone has never competed in a pageant before, but after being named Little Miss Barnsley she’s trying to do her hometown proud.
She’ll be competing in Blackpool in October and if she wins she’ll earn the prestigious Little Miss Teen Great Britain title.
Her mum, Gemma, told the Chronicle that Georgie-Ava is incredibly excited for the opportunity.
She said: “She’s been asking for a while to do a pageant and I’m a hairdresser so I’ve done hair at pageants before.
“We told her she had to wait for a little while until she got older and when we applied for this competition she got through to the finals.
“She’s never done anything like this before.
“She’s really excited and wants to put Barnsley on the map.”
She’s hoping to follow in the footsteps of Barnsley model Apollonia Llewellyn who has millions of followers on social media.
Gemma added: “Georgie-Ava’s inspiration is Apollonia.
“She wants to follow in her footsteps and be successful.”
