A LOCAL councillor believes that dangerous off-road bikers who are ripping up fields around Kendray could seriously injure someone if they continue.

On Sunday, an area of green space on Birk Terrace was completely torn up by off-roaders, with large piles of mud and grass left in the middle of the road.

It comes just weeks after a similar incident occurred on Park Road.

The area’s three councillors - Paul Murray, Karen Dyson and Ian Shirt - have been working with South Yorkshire Police after Kendray was highlighted as a hotspot area for the issue.

Coun Murray told the Chronicle that sooner or later someone is going to get hurt.

He said: ‘It’s really disappointing.

“We’ve got some great green spaces and we, as a council, are doing our best to try and make them look great.

“Something similar to this happened on Farm Road.

“It was exactly the same issue with off-road bikers.

“If it continues then someone is eventually going to get hurt.

“You’ve got children who are playing around that area.
