A LOCAL councillor paid a visit to a taekwondo club this week and met with Olympic silver medalist Caden Cunningham who was coaching a class of youngsters.
Coun Kevin Osborne visited Quest Taekwondo in Oxspring on Saturday to see first‑hand the outstanding work the club is doing to inspire people of all ages to get active and involved in sport.
He was welcomed by lead instructor Mike McKenzie and international taekwondo referee Richard Ullyott, who provided an insightful behind‑the‑scenes look at how the club nurtures confidence.
Coun Osborne says that the highlight of the morning was meeting Olympic silver medallist Caden Cunningham, who was coaching a lively class of young athletes.
He said: “Barnsley is incredibly fortunate to have community‑driven organisations like Quest Taekwondo.
“The passion, professionalism, and care shown by Mike, Richard, Caden, and the whole team is truly inspiring.
“They are helping our young people grow in confidence, develop new skills, and realise their potential.
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at Quest for the warm welcome and for the brilliant work they do every single day.”
