BIG-HEARTED Barnsley barber Tony Batty swapped his Father Christmas costume for an Easter Bunny outfit as he launched his latest appeal.

Tony, whose shop is on Racecommon Road, has been supporting locals for a number of years.

The dust has only just settled on his Christmas appeal which saw thousands of toys donated to young children across the down - but he’s officially launched the Easter egg appeal.

Last year’s appeal raised around 2,000 eggs and Tony is hoping for a similar amount this time.

He told the Chronicle: “I only launched it properly on Monday.

“People have been getting in touch and on Monday we had a donation of 30 eggs and a solicitor office gave us £75 to buy some.

“John Barton’s charity single meant we also have £600 to buy some more eggs with.

“We’ve had a good start.

“We’re going to give them out to local hospitals and we’re also going to hold an event with the Easter bunny at Base 71.

“We’ve got a fantastic town with a lot of fantastic people who always want to help out.”

Anyone wishing to donate can drop their chocolate eggs off at Tony’s shop.
