BARNSLEY has a new professional boxer in Elliott Bridges.

The 26-year-old from Bolton-upon-Dearne has been boxing for a decade, including spells at Barnsley Star and Jonny Musgrave’s gym where he is now. He is expecting to make his debut at super-welterweight in the coming months. He has signed with Carl Greaves Promotions.

Bridges said: “Me and Jonny both agreed that my style is probably more suited to the pro game rather than the amateurs. I want to make my debut in the next few months, ideally at the Metrodome.

“I am from Barnsley and know a lot of people in Barnsley who would hopefully come and watch me.

“I will just take it one fight at a time.

“I have had 15 amateur fights which is limited experience. If I can build myself into a position to win an area title then go from there, that would be my goal.”
