A LOCAL indie rock band have taken themselves to a whole new level with their latest single release - and they’ve got their eyes set on following in the footsteps of the Arctic Monkeys.
RedlineBandUK comprises Alex Hemingway, Alexander Blundell, Noah Jennett and Matthew Barnes.
Three of the youngsters - all 17 apart from Hemingway - are currently studying for a level three music and performance diploma at Barnsley College.
It’s there that the band sharpen their sound: reimagining chart-topping covers with their own distinctive energy while also dedicating time to writing and recording original material that reflects their evolving musical identity.
The legacy of the Arctic Monkeys, who once walked the same corridors of Barnsley College before rising to global fame, is never far from their minds.
They released their first single ‘U n Me’ last Friday and is available on all major streaming services.
A spokesperson for the band said: “The song was written by Alex Hemingway who first heard the lyrics in a dream and immediately set to work crafting the instrumental arrangement.
“The track also features a dynamic lead guitar solo from Noah Jennett, adding an extra burst of energy to the band’s debut release.
“As unsigned artists the Redline boys would love everyone’s support, so if you enjoy the track, please stream it, share it and help spread the work.
“Every listen makes a difference.”
