PLANS have been submitted for a new multi-purpose facility at a popular country park.
Rabbit Ings in Royston is set to benefit from the council’s Principal Towns scheme, which has already put more than £11m into improving Barnsley’s larger villages.
The council want to upgrade what is available at Rabbit Ings, where community facilities are currently limited.
Under the new proposals, which are subject to funding approval, the existing facilities would be replaced with a sustainable, multi-functional building with modern changing rooms and a community classroom.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “I am pleased that people in Royston have taken the chance to see and comment on our plans to upgrade the facilities at Rabbit Ings.
“It is a beautiful, well-loved spot and an important asset for Royston.
