AN MP has vowed to work alongside a business after dozens of workers were told their futures are at risk.
JTEKT, formerly Koyo Bearings, entered a consultation period with staff over plans to close the Dodworth-based business which has operated for more than three decades.
The Chronicle understands the business is expecte dto close for good by the end of the year.
Marie Tidball, who represents Penistone and Stocksbridge, told the Chronicle: “After nearly 35 years of operation in Dodworth, it is deeply disappointing for all the local employees at JTEKT that the company are considering a proposal to close the business.
“I will be speaking to employees, union representatives and the business owners during the formal consultation period to ensure staff are properly supported.
