A NUMBER of Barnsley College students have been shortlisted as finalists in the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.

The awards recognise outstanding apprentices, employers and training providers from across the region who are championing the impact of apprenticeships.

In total, six apprentices and one staff member from Barnsley College have been named finalists across multiple categories.

Katie Cherry and Sean Fearn are in the advanced apprentice category while Rebecca Watson has been shortlisted as a ‘higher apprentice’.

Eve Eillot and Jonathan Blackledge are the two other students to be shortlisted.

While Bethany Dunnill has made the final of the mentor of the year award.

Principal David Akeroyd said: “We are incredibly proud to see our apprentices and staff recognised at the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.

“These nominations reflect not only their individual dedication and talent, but also the strength of the partnerships we have built with employers across the region.
