ARTIST Ashley Jackson has published a new book of “love letters to his mistress”.

The lady in question is Yorkshire, and the love letters are his watercolours of scenery all over the county.

The book, titled “Fifty Golden Years With My Yorkshire Mistress”, features this image of Town Head near Dunford Bridge.

Ashley says the painting is a homage to the Victorian navvies and engineers who were killed or injured while building the Dunford tunnels.

The book contains more than 50 watercolour prints, each accompanied by Ashley’s thoughts and memories. There are also photographs of the artist throughout his career.

The book, published by Dalesman, costs £19.99, and was launched at a party in Leeds yesterday.
