A YOUNG darts prodigy who is set to meet his hero, Luke Littler, has been nominated for a Young Champions award.
Lincoln Thompson may only be ten years old but when it comes to the matter of darts, he’s already playing among men.
Already competing for his local pub The Pheasant’s men’s team, it’s safe to say that the Monk Bretton youngster is destined for great things.
Lincoln averages around 80 and hits 180s for fun and has attracted the attention of three sponsors along the way.
Sweet Treats, Lee Boydell and Hackett’s Plastering proudly support Lincoln’s journey with darts and he’s hoping to secure even more in the future.
His dad, Johny Thompson, said he started playing when he was just seven years old.
He said: “I stopped playing and he just took over my set up when he was around seven-and-a-half years old.
“When Luke Littler came on the scene at 16 years old, he was Lincoln’s inspiration to take up darts.
“His maths has gone through the roof at school since he started.
“Last year a darts academy opened in Wombwell called Darts Hub and he joined that.
“He started playing there and they started talking about how good he was.
“His knowledge is just incredible.
“We’ve got him a proper shirt now with his sponsors printed on.
“He only turned ten in December and he just knows everything.
“He’s just going from strength to strength.
“All the team at The Pheasant are just blown away by him.
“I’m so proud of him.
“Charlie Manby was there when he got to the final of a tournament in Wakefield before Christmas.
“He told him he just needs to keep focused.
“Most kids start out but never stick at it and it fizzles out.
“Lincoln has stuck at it and he keeps on getting better and better as a result.
“He’s also one of the kindest and most helpful lads out there.
“We recently had a parents evening and they had nothing but good things to say, they said he’s very polite and well-mannered.
“Lincoln recently won a raffle at the Darts Hub to meet Luke and others in September and he can’t wait to meet his hero.
