DAVID McGoldrick will be assessed again before Barnsley’s game at Luton Town on Saturday but Josh Earl is set to be back in contention.

Striker McGoldrick has missed the last four matches with a hamstring issue.

Defender Earl could return after missing Tuesday’s loss at Stevenage.

Hourihane said: “Josh Earl is OK. The million dollar question is Didzy (McGoldrick). We’re umming and arring. We will train on Thursday then we will see how he reacts.”

Earl returned from three months out with a broken foot earlier this month and played three games in a week before coming off at half-time against Bradford on Saturday then missing Tuesday’s trip to Stevenage.

Earl said: “I’m good.

“I had a much needed sort of rest on Tuesday.

“I’ve been out for a while, so the club were looking after me on Tuesday.

“It was probably a game too soon to carry on again.

“I am quite pleased with how I felt physically, especially the first two games.

“I felt a little bit tired on Saturday, and obviously that was the reason I came off at half-time.

“It was the right decision to do that.”
