Barnsley will play their final away game of the season at relegated Northampton Town on Tuesday evening.
The Reds are 15th in League One having won just one of 11 games while the Cobblers are bottom after being relegated earlier this month.
Northampton were tenth at Christmas but have since won just one of 24 league games, losing 18. They have lost the last ten in all competitions.
Northampton and Barnsley have jointly conceded the most goals in the division with 70.
The Cobblers sacked manager Kevin Nolan last month and replaced him with veteran coach Colin Calderwood – who had been manager between 2003 and 2006 – until the end of the season. He has lost all eight games so far.
They lost 5-1 second-placed Cardiff City on Saturday.
Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane told the Chronicle: “We're hoping it’s a good opportunity for us. If we're more ruthless in the final third than we were at Luton then we're hoping that we might come with a positive result.”
Barnsley have a poor record against Northampton, winning eight and losing 14 of the 29 meetings.
But they are unbeaten in the last five and have won 2-1 at Sixfields in each of the last two seasons, with Davis Keillor-Dunn netting a brace last year before Mael de Gevigney was sent off.
The teams drew 2-2 at Oakwell in February with David McGoldrick and Adam Phillips netting for the Reds.
Northampton have centre-back Conor McCarthy who was released by Barnsley last season and midfielder Cameron McGeehan who helped the Reds to promotion in 2019.
