MONEY raised from a book about a legendary football scout has been handed over to two worthy causes.

Feeding The Wolves, by the Chronicle’s Ashley Ball and Chris Brook, tells the story of Mark Crook and the 114 professional players he discovered - mainly for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The book’s profits have now been divided and shared between Brampton United FC, who play on the same pitches Mark’s teams did and the Wolves Foundation.

Each received cheques of £2,538.66.

Brampton United chairman Adam Hardware said: “It was great to welcome Ashley and Chris back to the club and accept a big total from their sales.

“The money will be put to good use and help us to provide a safe and encouraging place for them to develop their skills.

“We appreciate and love the history we have here and it’s amazing how so many great players have played on the same pitches as our youngsters.

“It’s not about making the next superstar here necessarily. We want kids to enjoy their football and for Brampton United to be a big part of our community.”

Ashley and Chris were joined at the ceremony by Jane Whitlam, Mark’s granddaughter.

The pair also made the trip to Molineux and were greeted by three of Mark’s former players including Cudworth-born Steve Daley and Yvonne Flowers, the widow of Wolves’ iconic player Ron Flowers who was another of Mark’s discoveries.
