FATHER and daughter filmmaking duo Dean and Rebecca Sills are hoping to educate and entertain locals with their latest short film.

The film delves into the life of James Paul Moody, hailing from Scarborough.

Serving as the sixth officer on the RMS Titanic, Moody holds the sombre distinction of being the only junior officer to perish in the tragic disaster.

The film is an information film, relying on text and music to help tell the story, using places of interest in Scarborough along with bringing the Titanic back to life with models and greenscreen.

You can watch the film on the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre website.

Dean said: “I wanted to do a short on James Paul Moody especially since a lot of people don’t know about Scarborough’s Titanic connections.

“There is this enduring fascination with the Titanic, which is remarkable since it sank back in 1912, the same year Barnsley FC won the FA Cup.

“We are truly grateful to Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre including Mark Vesey, the chairman of the volunteer-run centre and Brian Joicey who added the film to their website.”
