A Barnsley artist has been commissioned to paint a village snow scene for the cover of the BBC Countryfile magazine.
John Wood, who runs J&K Wood Gallery on Regent Street with brother Kevin, was asked to do the painting for the December issue.
The 'winter wonderland' oil painting took John a couple of weeks to complete and is based on a scene in the North Yorkshire village of Goathland.
The Darton man said: "I'm not sure why they asked me, I'm guessing they must have seen some of my other work.
"I was told the magazine wanted a country Christmas scene, with some glowing windows, a warm village feel, and a few animals and people. "
John worked in a laboratory at Barnsley Hospital but decided to follow in his brother's footsteps, an artist, and together they opened the shop in 1986.
