GRAIHAGH Turner, from Penistone, has been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the European Athletics U20 Off-Road Running Championships in Slovenia.
The event will be held in Ljubljana-Kamnik from 5–7 June 2026.
Meanwhile, Barnsley AC’s Richard Price was first over50 man in the Southport Triathlon standard distance in an overall time of 2-25-14.
He has qualified to represent Great Britain in the finals in Kitzbuhel, Austria next year.
The final race of the South Yorkshire Road League took place at Lodge Moor.
Barnsley AC’s Ruby Sunman was first woman and secured the overall win for the senior women’s category.
Over40 man Gavin Walker and over50 man Richard Price finished second in their age categories while over40 woman Lydia Race placed third in hers.
Barnsley AC finished third in the men’s and fifth in the women’s categories.
Both Penistone’s men’s and women’s teams finished sixth in the top championship divisions.
Sean Pitt led Penistone home in 25th place with 30-20. The women’s team was led by Jade Crosby, who finished 74th overall and fourth senior female in 34-09, with Suzanne McGill first woman over45 in 35-28.
There were several individual series podiums for Penistone, with McGill crowned first woman over45, Barbara Haigh, first woman over75 and Ian Neville first man over60.
Stuart Woodhead finished was second man over70, while Jill Scrivens completed the club’s podium successes as third woman over55.
Barnsley Harrier Rich Spooner was third over40 man in the series, Fiona Davies first over50 woman and Rachel Jardine second over55 woman.
At the third Oxspring Trunce, Richard Cottam led Penistone home in second place overall in 26-00.
George Parr was close behind in fourth with 27-14. Philip Shaw was second man over60 in 32-29. Hannah Shaw was first Penistone woman in 40th place in 33-28.
Harrison Fordham was first back of the Barnsley Harriers. Lisa Clarkson was the first female Harrier over the line.
There was a PB for Ryan Senior and another for Paul Wheatley.
At Pontefract 10k, Barnsley AC’s Wayne Singleton finished third overall and first over45 man in 33-55 while Ashley Abrahams set a PB of 34-04 to finish fourth and second over45 man.
Tristan Davies-Bennett was first junior man in 35-13 and Chris McNicholas was first over60 man in 39-16.
Harrier Charlie Holt was second junior man, Fiona Davies was first over50 woman and second woman overall. Leah Needham beat her PB by 2-15 and Shaun Curtis knocked more than a minute off his PB. Penistone’s Alan Nutton was 15th overall and second over40 man.
Penistone’s Shaun Swallow tackled the White Peak Half Marathon, finishing 33rd in 1-32-42.
The Dearne Valley 10k played host to six Harriers with Katie Roberts and David Thompson first male and female finishers for the club. Katie was first female overall. Penistone’s Adele Stenton finished in 1-11-06.
Penistone’s James Fryers finished seventh overall and third senior male at the Ponteland Triathlon in 1-07-15.
He also recorded the fastest run split of the day with 18-04.
Daniel Rushforth led Penistone home at the Hathersage Hurtle.
He finished 30th overall in 3-01-04 and sixth man over40. Philip Shaw followed in 37th place, taking second man over60 in 3-08-37, with Hannah Shaw close behind in 38th in 3-08-40.
Barnsley Harrier Ian Meade was the oldest finisher, completing the walk in 6-51. Jay West and Lauren Williams finished under the four-hour mark.
At the Mount Famine Fell Race, Penistone’s George Parr led Penistone home with 17th place in 48-05.
Penistone’s Oliver Pike was also in action at the Hayfield May Queen Fell Race, finishing 15th in 26-00.
At the Lantern Pike Dash, Martyn Goodwin led Penistone home, finishing 24th in 19-38 and third man over60.
Alfie Goodwin finished his first fell race in 31st place in 21-35.
Penistone’s Connor Smith took on the demanding UTS 50k at Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB, completing the 57.6km course with 3,294 metres of ascent in 10-25-29 to finish 375th overall.
Penistone’s Dawn Broom represented Welsh Masters at the Bideford 10k international fixture, running 50-27 despite carrying an injury.
At the Big Green 10k in Scunthorpe, Barnsley AC’s Vicky Shaw finished as third woman in a time of 39-40 and Helen Morgan was first over55 woman with 41-58.
Seventeen Barnsley AC junior athletes competed at the first YADAL meeting of 2026, finishing fourth with 366 points.
There were first place finishes for Riley Hall (100m, 11.70; 200m, 23.80), Kuba Obst (shot put, 7.90m) and the under 16 girls 4x100m relay (55.30).
The first match of the Northern Track and Field League East One South took place at Berry Hill in Mansfield. Barnsley AC achieved 115 points with four athletes competing in 11 events.
