THE spotlight is primed to shine on the town’s most remarkable youngsters, as we proudly unveil the official shortlist for this year’s Young Champions awards.
From the heart of our community, this year’s search for Barnsley’s Young Champions have revealed an extraordinary group of young people.
Judges have been busy selecting our finalists for the shortlist and have been thoroughly impressed with each and every nominee.
The sheer variety of achievements in this year’s pool of nominees is staggering.
From youngsters who have collectively raised thousands for charities and devoted young carers who act as the bedrock of their families their stories are a powerful testament to Barnsley’s grit, compassion, and community spirit.
As we head toward the highly anticipated awards ceremony at the Metrodome, on Friday June 12, the feeling of excitement is in the air.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing even more inspirational stories from our brilliant finalists both in print and online.
Hosted by the brilliant Dave ‘Dixie’ Dixon the experienced radio presenter will make his Young Champions debut with his signature engaging style.
Known for his great music and natural rapport with listeners, Dixie has become a familiar and trusted voice across the county.
He says he’s excited about his debut appearance at this year’s presentation night.
He added: “I’m looking forward to hosting the awards and can’t wait to celebrate our amazing young champions.
“I’m sure it is going to be a fantastic night.”
Away from his presenting work, he is a sought-after host and DJ, appearing at events throughout Yorkshire.
Also, keep an eye out for our public vote, which will see shortlisters’ videos go live on the Chronicle website in the next few weeks.
This will play a part in deciding our winners alongside the verdict of our judging panel, with the winners revealed on the night of the ceremony.
