A COMMUNITY church is set to move a worship session to a bigger venue to suit their growing congregation.

Gateway Church is set to move its Sunday worship to St Mary’s Church, on Church Street, in the town centre.

It first started in the ‘Ronnie Glavin Suite’ at Oakwell Stadium in 2011 and is now based at Mottram Hall on Mottram Street - where it provided the first recognised foodbank in the town.

The church’s pastor, Mark Reasbeck, said: “St Mary’s currently has no congregation and Gateway has been searching for a bigger town centre venue, we decided let’s give it a try.

“Whilst mid-week activities continue at Mottram Hall, we are merging our Lundwood and Mottram Hall congregations and meeting every Sunday at St Mary’s, with plenty of space to grow.

“We’re planning a special worship service launch on Sunday June 7 at 11am.

“This will also include kids’ groups, plus creche facilities, all are welcome.”
