SAFETY measures are set to be taken in an area of Barnsley following a campaign by Lib Dem councillors.
Councillors in Darton East have long been campaigning for a safe crossing point being installed on Darton Lane following concerns from residents.
They have heard this week that work is set to take place to improve safety in the area.
And, although the crossing has not been improved, other measures will be installed in the future.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We have now heard back regarding the decision that was made by cabinet.
“It may not be the crossing we were hoping for, however there will be a dropped curb and tactile paving put in place on Darton Lane to allow ease of crossing for those with pushchairs or mobility aids.
“Whilst it might not be the type of permanent crossing we were hoping for, it is a step in the right direction and we will keep building upon this now.
“We would like to thank all residents who supported us with this and we will keep on fighting for road safety improvements in our area.”
