A BARNSLEY MP has urged the Reform-led council to build on Labour’s recent investment in repairing the borough’s roads.
Marie Tidball, who represents Penistone and Stocksbridge, praised the previous council administration for spending millions on roads, but raised several areas which still require work.
Penistone’s Sheffield Road, Church View Road and Underbank Lane were all highlighted, as well The Avenue and Rockley View in Pilley and Halifax Road, Back Lane and Westfield Avenue in Thurgoland.
Marie opted to write to Councillor Paul Kelly, cabinet spokesperson for environment, transport and communities, to pass on residents’ views about outstanding repairs in her constituency.
“When Barnsley Council was Labour-led, it funded £18.3m to fill potholes in our local roads,” Marie said.
“Now, I’ll be holding the new Reform-led council to account, to ensure these repairs are made on time and to a high standard.
“I wanted to make the council aware of the critical issues with potholes affecting roads in my communities.”
