ARMED Forces Celebration Day is set to return to the town centre this weekend.
The celebrations will begin with a military parade at 10.30am, followed by a packed programme of free entertainment and activities running until 4pm on Saturday (June 20).
Councillor Stan Bryan, cabinet spokesperson for adult social care and integrated health, said: “Our Armed Forces Celebration Day is a brilliant opportunity for the whole community to come together and show their support for our armed forces community, while enjoying a fantastic day out in our town centre.
“Armed Forces Celebration Day is always a special occasion in Barnsley’s calendar, and as a veteran myself, having served 24 years in the Royal Navy, it’s one I’m particularly proud to support.
“There’s something for everyone throughout the day, and I really encourage families to come along, celebrate, and have a great day out.”
