DREAMS can come true... And they certainly did for stroke survivor Mikka Walmsley who visited Santa and his helpers in Lapland.

Mikka, five, of Royd Avenue, Cudworth, suffered a major stroke in 2010 that left her paralysed from the chest down.

She was granted the once-in-a-lifetime trip to Luosto by the Starlight Children's Foundation after being referred by staff at Stoke Mandeville Hospital where she was treated.

Mikka, her mum Rachel, dad Richard and brother Blake, went with her where they enjoyed a husky sledge ride through a forest and got to meet the reindeer, Santa and his little elf helpers.

Dad Richard said after two years of travelling to Stoke Mandeville and back for Mikka's specialist treatment - seeing her smile was 'priceless'.

He added: "Having Mikka's wish granted is a dream come true for her and all of us. Mikka was so excited to meet Santa and she loved being pulled along in a sledge too."
