A FATHER and son got a bolt from the blue when lightning struck their Worsbrough home this week.
Terry Cooper, 56, was in bed at his William Street house just before 9pm on Monday when he heard a bang.
He emerged to find a hole in the roof caused by a lightning bolt striking a ridge tile on top of the gable end.
His 23-year-old son Steve was downstairs watching television. The television imploded and he ran out into the garden to find part of a roof decoration, as well as several tiles, had shattered across the ground.
Terry said:“I have never heard anything like it. Then my son told me I had better get up because the roof was on fire."
