Darcie Wilson is three years old but she knew what to do when her mum collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor.

She rang her aunt for help, splashed water on her mum's and then unlocked the front door to let in Leanne, her aunt.

Kelly Wilson, 22, collapsed on the bathroom floor last Friday morning.

Darcie, a pupil at Royston Parkside’s morning nursery, said: “I told Auntie Leanne you have got to come straight away. I got my stool and turned the tap on and splashed it on mummy and then I unlocked the door all by myself.

“I was worried because I wanted mummy to speak to me but she wouldn't and I really wanted my breakfast because my tummy was rumbling.”

Kelly, of Cross Lane, suffers from intercranial hypertension which means fluid doesn’t drain from the brain and that causes vomiting, dizziness and blackouts. The condition has never caused her to pass out before.

Kelly said: “I felt unwell and went upstairs to be sick but thought I was going to pass out. I had dialled Leanne’s number and Darcie pressed the green button to connect it and spoke to my sister.

“I can’t remember anything but she was calm and didn’t panic which I would have done if I was in that situation.

“I am so proud of her because if it wasn’t for her I could have been out cold for hours on the bathroom floor.”
