A KARATE champion and a community sports’ leader have seen their faces up in lights as part of a pilot healthy living campaign.
Barnsley is one of four areas where the Everyday Sport scheme is initially being run, and Chris Tully, 21, and 17-year-old Kim Waterhouse were chosen as the faces of the campaign in the borough.
They are appearing in a publicity drive including billboards and website features, and were chosen as physically active people who could inspire others to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Chris, from Athersley, is a Karate black belt and former British champion. He said: “I was quite shy and didn't have much confidence. Karate has not only kept me very fit but it has also really taken me out of my shell.”
Kim, from Tankersley, volunteers at her local gym club helping children, and also teaches youngsters basketball.
