Barnsley singer Lily Green has won a place in the area final of a national singing competition after wowing judges with a rendition of a Norah Jones song.
Lily, 14, of Old Hall Road, Worsbrough, performed 'Sinkin' Soon' at the regional final of the Teenstar competition in City Hall in March and will now travel to Newcastle on Sunday where she will sing Two Bare Feet by Katie Melua.
Lily said she was looking forward to the next round.
She added: "I was put through on the judges' vote but I didn't think I'd get through because there were some very good singers.
"This is my first competition and I'm elated to have got through."
She was one of five finalists put through by the judges and did not have to go through to the public vote.
In their feedback, the judges said Lily performed well, chose a good song and had an excellent tone to her voice.
It added: "Love the energy, that’s what I call a performance."
Lily said she had always been interested in singing, and has enjoyed singing with Fusion Youth Theatre in Sheffield, where she has been a member for two years.
But she added: "I love all kinds of music but like these kinds of songs and I think I can do good with them. I love singing."
