WHEN baby Laila Kirk decided she was coming there was no stopping her and she was born in Barnsley Hospital car park.

Mum Diana, 29, realised she could get no further as she was walking into the hospital at 2pm on Sunday and the baby was delivered by her grandmother and a stranger who was passing by.

Diana's mother Susan Smith ran into the main entrance to find help, but before it could arrive Laila was born in the car park at a healthy 8lbs 14oz, aided by former auxiliary nurse Maureen Blandamour.

Diana, who lives on Pye Avenue, Mapplewell, with husband Ian and her two young sons, said: “Mum was going backwards and forwards into the hospital trying to get a wheelchair.
