Former Barnsley College student Lydia Garner has come full circle by relocating her hairdressing business to the college’s professional salon.
Lydia, aged 19, is operating the business from the Images salon in the College’s Old Mill Lane campus, a year on from completing her studies.
Lydia studied Level 2 and Level 3 National Vocational Qualifications in hairdressing at the college between 2010 and 2012, before becoming self-employed.
She said: “I jumped at the chance to move my business to Images as my time at Barnsley College gave me the skills that enabled me to set up on my own.
"The facilities are excellent and it was great for me to be taught by highly experienced staff and benefit from their knowledge. I would encourage anyone wishing to go into hairdressing to enrol at the college.
“I am now looking forward to developing my business at Images and would also love the opportunity to teach and assess at the college in the future.”
