Proud of Barnsley shortlist nominee Eleanor Simpson has won the Under 14 Tumbling World Cup event in Odense, Denmark.
Twice British champion Eleanor, who is shortlisted in the Sporting Achievement Proud of Barnsley category, was part of a very strong Great Britain squad last weekend. The squad won five of the eight age group categories at the prestigious event.
Eleanor's dad Mark, of Autumn Close, Royston, said: "Eleanor qualified for Saturday's final in equal first place before performing a fantastic final pass to take the gold. This is the second successive year that she has won a World Cup event having won in Bulgaria last year."
The weekend before, Eleanor took part in the trial to make the Great Britain squad for the forthcoming World Championships which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Eleanor performed consistently well over the two days to win the event and claim her position in the squad.
This will be the second consecutive time that Eleanor has competed for GB at the World Championships having finished ninth in 2011.
Her preparation will include a week's training camp where she will train alongside the very best tumblers and trampolinists in the country.
