CLARE and Anthony Cook’s wedding day was uplifting in more ways than one.
When they stepped out of Royston Parish Church on Saturday they discovered their Daimler limousine had been replaced with a yellow JCB.
Their first journey as a married couple was on an old three piece suite in the bucket of the digger which had been trimmed up with ribbons and flowers for the occasion.
The bride’s sisters, Joanne Hewlett and Karen Kilroy, decided they would play the practical joke as Anthony, 35, used to work as a JCB driver and Clare, 29 said she wanted an unusual wedding.
However, the limousine was back in time to take the couple of Spark Lane, Mapplewell to their reception at Brooklands Hotel before the honeymoon in Mexico.
Joanne said: “When they decided to get married Clare said she wanted an unusual wedding car and we tried to get a fire engine and all sorts.
“But she didn’t want to look silly and decided to hire cars but we thought as a practical joke we would still surprise her with an unusual vehicle.
“It was a surprise, nobody let it out of the hat and the picture says it all.
“It added to the day just to see people looking out of windows at it.”
