MANVERS mailmen were on strike on Monday to protest at new hours imposed by Royal Mail.
Two night shift workers who prepared mail for delivery staff to sort when they came on duty at 5am have been taken off, leaving the mail to be sorted in the mornings.
“Royal Mail is wanting profit against service, while we’re wanting to maintain a good service,” said a Manvers union official. “They are moving the goal posts.”
It was the second one day official strike by 126 delivery staff at the sorting office and three more are planned unless the dispute is settled at a meeting with the employers next week.
