DELIRIOUS Barnsley fans watched their heroes clinch an entertaining play-off final and secure the club's place in the Championship.

The Reds will be playing the likes of Sheffield wednesday, Leeds United and Birmingham City next season thanks to their penalty shoot-out victory in Cardiff.

Nick Colgan made the crucial save to make up for an earlier error and send the Reds up.

Player of the season Colgan's howler in the first half gave the Swans take a 2-1 lead. But he became a hero when he stopped Alan Tate's crucial spot kick. Paul Hayes had earlier put Barnsley in front only to see former-Red Rory Fallon equalise with a spectacular overhead kick.

A Danny Nardiello free kick put Barnsley back on level terms in the second half and both teams had chances to steal a win. Skipper Paul Reid had Barnsley's best but his firm downward header bounced over the bar.

Alan Tate and Lee Trundle had chances to clinch it for Swansea but after Colgan's dramatic save it is Barnsley fans who are celebrating tonight.
