ANGRY residents in Jump have called in police and complained to Barnsley Council about an "unofficial gypsy camp" on Jump park.
About 15 caravans moved on to the park next to residents' homes on Roebuck Ridge on Tuesday. The homeowners say the gypsies have been using the site as a toilet as well as creating litter, noise and nuisance.
A spokeswoman from Barnsley Council said the council was aware of the "traveller encampment" on Roebuck Hill. She said: "We are working alongside South Yorkshire police to resolve matters as soon as possible."
Police confirmed they received a report at 5.50pm on Wednesday from a woman alleging she had been "assaulted" by what she described as travellers' children at the site.
