BARNSLEY striker Sam Winnall has brushed off criticism of his early season form.
The 23-year-old hitman, who bagged 23 goals last season for Scunthorpe United in their promotion-winning campaign from League Two, has struggled to carry on that form in the league above, finding the net just the once in a 4-1 demolition of Gillingham on August 23.
Winnall, who signed a three-year deal with the Oakwell club in the summer transfer window, had a fantastic season on his way to becoming the league's top scorer, which subsequently earned him a move to Barnsley for a fee believed to be around £250,000.
"I am really enjoying Barnsley," Winnall told the Chronicle. "I am working hard in training and the goals will come. I only had three goals to my name at this point last year so it is all about finding a rhythm and keeping my focus.
"The league is far more competitive and there are no weak teams, so you have to be at your best every week. Pressure comes with the territory when you are a centre forward but I am used to having that.
"There is still a long way to go and it is where we are in May that matters."
