OAKWELL legend Norman Rimmington suffered three broken bones in his arm when he slipped as he took his seat before the match on Saturday.

Norman, 90, was taken to Barnsley Hospital and kept in overnight, but is now making steady progress at his Darton home.

Manager Danny Wilson and other staff have been calling to wish him well and say everyone at the club and all Reds' supporters are hoping he makes a quick and full recovery.

Known as Mr Barnsley, Norman joined the club initially in 1945, he signed professional terms as a player the next year and was a fearless goalkeeper.

After hanging up his boots he turned his hand to coaching, did stints as groundsman and then physio fand now works in the club's laundry room.

Norman says he wants to be at the home game against Scunthorpe on November 29 - when it will be his 91st birthday.
