MAPPLEWELL village centre could be in for improvements as part of plans for new homes on the former North Gawber colliery site.

Property regeneration firm Harworth Estates has got planning permission to build up to 325 homes at Mapplewell.

The development will regenerate the former North Gawber Colliery, which closed in 1988.

Harworth's scheme includes a full remediation of the 40-acre site so that development platforms can be prepared for the building of the houses and a financial contribution towards future school places in the area.
