MORE cash is to be injected into the project to renovate Barnsley market with plans now expected to cost around £50 million to deliver. Earlier this year the council set aside £35m from the sale of assets and borrowing and next week the council's ruling cabinet is due to approve another £15m to take the total to £50m.

Leader of the council Sir Steve Houghton said: "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to get the town centre we want, and of the quality we want - this is capital money, not revenue, so we can only spend it once."
