A FIRM says its sales have risen by between £50,000 and £60,000 a month since it changed its rules on smoking at the start of the year.
AJM Shopping Ltd at Grimethorpe says productivity of its 20 workers has risen by more than 80 per cent since smoking was restricted to 30-minute lunch breaks.
About a third of the workforce smoke and managing director Jason Mace said two members of staff had been persuaded to give up cigarettes. A couple of other staff had to be disciplined for 'insubordination' in the first few days when the smoking rules were introduced.
