A DEARNE Valley theatre group is celebrating the success of its third pantomime and looking forward to new productions of Kes in Goldthorpe and Wath-upon-Dearne.

Far Out Theatre presented six performances of the Pied Piper of Hamelin at Montgomery Hall, achieving audiences of 100 at each, although they gave two free performances to children from local Sure Start groups.

“This is our third year and we’ve gone up from about 30 people when we first started,” said chairman Vicky Evans, who runs the company with her sister, Suzy Dix.

She will be co-directing their next production Kes, which will be at Dearne Playhouse from April 12-14 and at Montgomery Hall from May 17-19.

They have been searching for a young lad who fits the role of Billy Casper perfectly and after auditions last week have given it to Oliver Burkill, 12, who has already appeared in productions at Sheffield Crucible and been directed by Sam West.
