Barnsley may have no manager but they were still active in the transfer market today as Alex Kiwomya's loan was cancelled and he was replaced by John O'Sullivan.
Kiwomya, 18, had played five times for the Reds since joining on loan from Chelsea last month but has now been sent back to Stamford Bridge. O'Sullivan, 21, signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers for a month after the Lancashire club's boss Gary Bowyer finally agreed to send out the Irish winger who Barnsley tried to sign permanently in the January transfer window.
Reds caretaker manager Mark Burton said: "John's a very dynamic player. He's quick and very attack-minded. He's got great desire and he's got youth on his side. He's trained well, integrated with the team and he'll be in the squad for the Crewe game (on Saturday)."
O'Sullivan played once as a substitute for Blackburn in May 2013, but has since been loaned to Conference club Southport and League Two side Accrington Stanley for whom he scored four goals in 13 games this season.
Barnsley have four loan players, one fewer than the maximum allowed in matchday squads. Crystal Palace's Peter Ramage and George Waring, from Stoke City, have signed until the end of the season but, like with O'Sullivan, the deal with Manchester United's midfielder Ben Pearson will run out next month.
